what is the difference between normal dextron 3 and plus 3 tranny fluid?
the 2003 durango calls for plus 3 tranny fluid. and on the container it says on it plus 3.

The major difference between fluid types is specified additive packages. Fluids are manufactured as similar base stocks, then specific additive packages are added to these base stocks in order to meet OEM requirements. Mercon is a highly stable fluid that provides durability and extended fluid life characteristics. Compared to ATF+3 that is a highly friction modified fluid that was designed to provide the imperceptible shift in automatic transmissions on newer models. Dexron III functions as a high detergency lubricant used on most automatic tranny's. ;D
